Hi there, welcome to Seattle by the Mile! I’m Douglas, and I’m an Uber driver navigating the streets, hills and let’s be honest, the occasional gridlock of Seattle.
I started the application process early March 2025 looking for a flexible way to earn extra income to pay off student loans, and it also seemed like a great way to explore the beautiful Emerald City! That is why I created ‘Seattle by the Mile’ – to share the journey, ‘One Mile, One Ride, One Story at a Time’.
This blog is my driver’s log, split into two main areas. Under By The Mile, you’ll find the real stories – anecdotes from the road, observations from behind the wheel, and reflections on the experiences that happen mile after mile. In Navigating Seattle, I share the practical stuff – tips and tricks for fellow drivers, or aspiring ones!, strategies for tackling Seattle-specific traffic, insights on using the apps, and advice learned the hard way.
My goal is to offer an honest, boots-on-the-ground perspective of rideshare driving in the Emerald City. You can expect authenticity: I’ll share the wins, the frustrations, like the initial sign-up process!, and everything in between.
